The Joy of Dance professional staff is dedicated to providing quality training to all dance students in a Godly atmosphere. The School focuses on training young dancers in excellence to use their gifts and talents to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Joy of Dance instruction team is comprised of a wide variety of dance professionals. With backgrounds ranging from certified Checchetti instructors to those using dance to spread the Gospel of Jesus across the globe, the love of both Jesus Christ and the beauty of dance is prevalent.
Mindy has been the owner of The Joy of Dance since 1999. She is a certified instructor through the Checchetti Council of America, The Royal Academy of Dancing, and Stott Pilates. She has been dancing since the age of 5.
Christina Wilder was born and raised in the local Vancouver area. In her early years she trained in ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, Pilates and character dances. In middle school, she continued training in the Portland/Tigard area focusing on ballet and pointe and completed her intermediate Royal Academy of Dancing Examination. A car accident changed the focus of training herself, to training others at the age of 17. She completed a 3 year teachers course with the Royal Academy of Dancing and took courses internationally as well as all over the United States. She also studied and took courses in child development, psychology, anatomy, pre-school dance, dance history, injury prevention, dance as worship, Vaganova syllabus, and Cecchetti syllabus. Working with The Joy of Dance opened a new world of dance to Christina. This introduced her to the Ballet Magnificat! company and dance as a worship. She worked with Joy of Dance founder Carrie Martin in the late 90's, and she trains her senior students for Royal Academy of Dancing exams.

Olivia started dancing when she was 4 years old. Growing up she enjoyed learning the technical aspects of ballet while also using dance to worship Christ. She started teaching ballet when she was 15 after student teaching for one year and continued to ever since. When she was 19, she moved to Tacoma to be a part of Paradosi Ballet Company's trainee program. After one year she was promoted to an apprentice position in the company and then the next year to a senior apprentice. Olivia is excited to be back teaching at The Joy of Dance and is looking forward to what God is going to do.

Talia Macy began dancing at the age of three and has been training with The Joy of Dance for ten years. Throughout the years, she has done ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, hip-hop, and contemporary. Cassandra began dancing ballet at the age of 5. Immediately in that first ballet class she knew that she wanted to pursue a career in dance. While moving a lot during her childhood she trained with various teachers all over the country. When her family finally settled in Boise, ID when she was 11 years old she begun studying under Sarah Arnold and Joanne Michaels. It was during that time her love for ballet grew and sprouted another passion - teaching. Her youngest sister was following in her steps as a ballet dancer but was so shy and scared Cassandra begun assisting in the class to be a comfort to her sister. She continued to be an assisted teacher for 5 years after that. While she pursued her career in classical ballet she always found opportunities to continue teaching! She has been privileged to always teach locally, in Puyallup, WA, while dancing professionally and was able to reach all around the nation and internationally (France) while on tour and living abroad. Cassandra has a deep passion for teaching the next generation of dancers - equipping them with the knowledge of not only technique, but the background and history of ballet. She is very excited to begin teaching at Joy of Dance this year and can not wait to meet her students!
Rose danced as a student at the Joy of Dance studio for seven years. During that time, she was a Teacher Trainee for one year, and was a part of the Joy of Dance Touring Company for two years. Throughout her time dancing, she has been blessed to have seen and known Jesus more through the loving discipleship and purposeful instruction of her teachers. Rose desires to share the sweet joy of dance with any who are willing, and to use the discipline and fellowship of dance to share that joy is rooted in the hope and freedom we have found in Christ alone!
